The ADA in State And Local Law Enforcement, Corrections and the Courts”
The ADA and its implementing regulations require state and local law
enforcement, correctional facilities and courts to ensure that individuals with disabilities are able to take advantage of services provided by these
governmental entities. Thus, whether law enforcement, correctional personnel or courts are interacting with crime victims, witnesses, arrestees, detainees or just members of the public, they are required to take steps to ensure that
individuals with disabilities are able to fully participate. This presentation will focus on the ADA legal principles requiring equal treatment in state and local law enforcement, correctional and court settings, including the applicable ADA regulations, and Technical Assistance Publications.
